Steve Suarez

Steve Suarez leads the Institute’s work on Quantum AI, the frontier where the gap between demonstration and deployment is at its most expensive. His argument is the Institute’s own: the question facing an enterprise is not whether the physics works, but what it should be doing about it now, and on what evidence.

He spent three decades across consulting, telecommunications and financial services before that. As Global Head of Innovation for Global Functions at HSBC he ran digital transformation at the scale of a global bank, where innovation either survives contact with the institution or does not happen.

He is founder and chief executive of the strategy firm HorizonX, a board director at the quantum software company Classiq, and a senior advisor on emerging technology to McKinsey & Company. He lectures at MIT on quantum computing strategy and impact, and co-founded The Quantum Index, a benchmarking initiative that ranks enterprise quantum readiness across industries.
