Sam Beni

Sam Beni coined the term “Complex AI” in 2019 and set out the thesis in a 2020 TEDx talk at Aston University, Why should Complex AI decide for you? It describes artificial intelligence as it arrives in institutions: multi-objective, high-stakes, and answerable, where objectives conflict and a decision has to be traceable to whoever owns it.

He is a serial entrepreneur in emerging technologies. His ventures include the world’s first state-backed stablecoin, and he has scaled AI companies from autonomous driving to multi-domain deployments running to hundreds of millions of dollars. As Head of Innovation at Tech Nation he ran the Applied AI growth programme under the UK Government’s AI Sector Deal, and before that managed Intel’s AI Accelerator and Innovation Lab.

He advises and sits as a non-executive director on companies building and deploying AI across the globe, and lectures on AI and emerging technologies at universities including London Business School, Imperial College London and Warwick Business School. He is an international keynote speaker and has delivered addresses for the UK Parliament, the Government of Monaco and international events.
