Michael Stattelman

Michael Stattelman leads the Institute’s work on Defence & Cyber AI. He is co-founder and chief executive of Falcons.AI, where he builds computer vision systems for settings in which a misclassification is not a poor recommendation but a safety failure.

He is the architect of a widely deployed image classification model for unsafe content, downloaded more than 1.3 billion times on Hugging Face and run over 64 million times on Replicate. His work centres on contextual awareness in vision models, and on the frameworks that make digital safety and AI governance auditable rather than asserted.

He has built and led global technical teams for more than twenty years, across gaming, pharmaceuticals and precision agriculture, and served as a programme manager and professor of computer science at Gwinnett Technical College. He holds a Master of Science in Information Systems and certifications in AI development from Google and NVIDIA, and speaks on AI safety across North America, Europe and the Gulf.
